A total of 7,000 kilogrammes of maize seeds have been delivered to local residents in Amolatar District by the Woman Member of Parliament, Dr. Agnes Apea.
According to the record, each beneficiary received about two kilogrammes of maize seeds, which is enough to plant two acres and is valued at thirty thousand shillings.
MP Dr. Apea said currently the distribution exercise is ongoing, and over 3500 local residents are expected to benefit from the programme, which has cost more than one hundred million shillings.
She said so far the seeds have been delivered to residents of Aputi, Opali, Abeja, and Arwotcek Sub Counties.
Dr.Apea added that the distribution team will soon cover Awelo sub-county, all of which are in Kyoga North County.
Recently, through her lobbying, the Ministry of Agriculture delivered four walking tractors to boost commercial farming in Amolatar District.
“Yes, I have lobbied the Ministry of Agriculture for four walking tractors to be given to my people to support their farming activities. When we work together with them, we will eradicate poverty. Through these tractors and seeds that are being distributed, we can increase production and eradicate poverty,” MP Dr. Apea said.
