In 2023, President Yoweri Kaguta directed that the sum of one billion Uganda shillings be sent to every district every financial year to boost the war against appealing roads in the country.

The money is sent to every district quarterly, and for Alebtong district, a total of 22 roads and many bridges under the district have been constructed, with some 11 roads due to be completed.
On Friday, May 10th, 2024, while launching the construction of six roads at different ceremonies held in Moroto County, MP Dorcas Acen (a woman representative) and the District Roads Committee chairperson of Alebtong district said that by the end of 2026, a total of 50 roads would have been built using this money.
She assured residents of effective service delivery by the leaders and warned those intending to sabotage their activities in the area to serve local people.
MP Aceng said the construction of these roads is a result of the able leadership that Alebtong district has both in Parliament and at the district level, headed by David Kennedy Odongo.
According to MP Acen, each financial year, as the district toads committee, they have resolved to select roads and bridges from the two constituencies of Ajuri and Moroto to work on, respectively.
“All these roads being built are courtesy of strong leaders who are able to lobby the government. We are glad that the district leadership is strongly working together. This is the reason you elected us; we will continue lobbying for more,” says MP Acen.
MP Samuel Okwir Odwe of Moroto County, in a message delivered by the area RDC Gillian Akullu on his behalf, assured residents of more government deliveries in many sectors, not just roads.
MP Okwir, who is a member of the presidential advisory committee, budget, and physical infrastructural committees in Parliament, said Alebtong will continue receiving more money for roads, including the one from the Road Fund for effective maintenance.
The launch was also attended by top district leaders, including LCV Chief DK Odongo, RDC Gillian Akullo, the Ma of Alebtong Town Council, Tony Ogwal, and Engineer Emmanuel Obua, who is overseeing the construction, among others.
In his message, LCV Odongo tasked local council chairpersons to ensure that the roads being constructed are well maintained by the users.
