Alebtong District Council has recommended the suspension of four senior civil servants, accusing them of misconduct and irregularities while executing their responsibilities.

David Kennedy Odongo, the Alebtong LCV Chairperson, listed the suspended staff as the acting district Engineer, David Puche, and the water Engineer, Bonny Otyeno, for a period of three months.

The duo is jointly faulted for failing to effectively conduct their roles, including supervision of construction projects, organizing site meetings, and misconduct, including absenteeism, among others.

Other staff were suspended for a period of three months, including senior procurement officer Susan Odepe and procurement officer Barbra Alok, to pave the way for investigations into allegations of abuse of office.

They are accused of extending the contract period of a project at Adwir H/CIII without notifying the District Executive Committee and Chief Administrative Officer.

Odongo said the council also appointed a five-member committee to lead a probe against the two officers in charge of procurement.

An attempt to contact the affected officers for possible verification failed.

  2. I think those civil servants are not wrong but the people who recruited them didn’t use technical expertise but technical know who basing on our Uganda of today. How comes you keep on having acting officers if qualified people are not there?
