A total of eight sub counties in Ajuri County and Alebtong district have received hand-held tractors from the government to boost commercial agriculture.
The tractors were delivered on Thursday, November 9th, to the benefiting sub counties by the government chief, Denis Hamson Obua, as well as the Ajuri County legislator and Alebtong District Woman MP, Dorcas Acen.
GCW Obua asked locals to embark on massive agricultural production so as to eradicate poverty among them.
MP Acen said the tractors are meant to support the community in embracing commercial agriculture in the area in a bid to promote wealth.
“I’m glad development is coming to the people of Alebtong because leaders are working together. All three legislators are working together,” said MP Acen.
MP Acen cited seed schools that have been installed in all the subcounties of Ajuri County, among others.
She encouraged residents to ensure the best use of the tractors to enhance their agricultural productivity as the only way to boost wealth creation.
Engineer Alex Birungi, assistant engineer in the ministry of agriculture in charge of the Agwata mechanization center, said that this is a government programme to improve agricultural production.
This is the first time the government has delivered hand-held tractors to boost agricultural productivity in the Lango sub region.
