According to her, the seeds are to empower local residents who are financially trapped to make more money and become part of the money economy through farming since they are unable to afford improved seeds.
She encouraged both men and women to embrace love in their families as a critical tool to promote wealth, adding that once the family is stable, they can then meaningfully engage in farming for money.
MP Acen also supported some women’s groups with Sh5 million as a revolving fund to add to their savings where members can borrow to empower different income-generating activities by the individual members.
Each of the 800 beneficiaries drawn from Adwir and Angeta Sub counties received two kilogrammes of seeds.
The local council authorities from Adwir, Angeta, and Omoro Sub counties asked MP Acen to lobby for better road financing by the central government, through Road Fund to improve the current appalling road network, which has continued to block their access to markets and health facilities within the area.
During the same event, a section of women engaged in bicycle riding while carrying a pot on their heads and traditional dance competitions by various community groups. The women were later rewarded with cash prices by the Woman MP Acen.

This is the second phase of seeds and mama kit distribution to residents of Alebtong district by MP Acen.

According to MP Acen, most local people are not engaging in commercial farming due to the high cost of improved seeds that can guarantee a huge harvest.
