The Alebtong Resident District Commissioner, RDC, Robert Adiama Ekaju, has embarked on community mobilisation to sensitise youths to embrace mind-set change as a critical tool for creating wealth.
On Wednesday, RDC Adiama and his team held a sensitization meeting with more than 300 youth leaders drawn from the sub-counties of Apala, Abia, and Apala Town Council at Apala Primary School.
While engaging with the youth leaders, RDC Adiama asked them to embrace a positive mindset, hard work, and the ability to creatively engage in money-making activities through farming.
According to RDC Adiama, youth must work hard because they are still energetic, and the government is committed to supporting youth initiatives that can get them out of poverty.
Citing Genesis 1:26, which says God gave man authority over everything, RDC Adiama said there is no reason for any youthful person to keep disturbing God for wealth yet they aren’t working hard.
Sam Ogwal, the secretary of finance for the National Youth Council, said they intend to train over 1400 youths in the Alebtong district on mindset change and poverty eradication.
He urged youths to utilise government programmes such as the Parish Development Model to combat poverty among themselves.
Ogwal guided the youths to distance themselves from immorality like excessive drinking of alcohol and laziness and stop hunting for free things if they were to prosper.
George Sunday Opio, the LCIII of Apala town, welcomed the strategy, saying mind-set change has been a huge obstacle to many people.
