Amb Aceng Rallies Ugandan Muslim Community in Diasporas to Promote Peace, Invest at Home

Date:

The Ugandan Muslim community living in Diasporas has been rallied to promote peace and massively invest back in Uganda to spur development.

Amb. Joy Ruth Aceng, the Ugandan High Commissioner in Ottawa, Canada, made the appeal while hosting several Muslim communities in an exclusive dinner as they continued to observe strict fasting during the ongoing holy month of Ramadan.

She advised them to utilize this holy month to promote peace, unity, and love among Ugandan Canadians.

Amb. Aceng reminded the Muslim community to continue embracing hard work and ensure they also invest back home in Uganda as a critical way to promote the country’s economy and creat jobs for those back home.

She maintained the government’s commitment to guide and support them and ensure safe investment back in Uganda as a way to promote development.

Amb Aceng noted that religion is critical in enhancing and guaranteeing the safety of humanity on earth, once observed correctly.

President Yoweri Museveni urged the Muslim community to use the holy month of Ramadan to seek Allah’s wisdom and guidance to resolve conflict and promote peace.

On 27th March, 2024, while hosting the group at State House, Entebbe, President Museveni urged them to engage in massive mobilization for wealth creation using government programs.

“I hosted our Muslim brothers and sisters to an Iftar dinner at Entebbe. I was pleased to hear some Bazukulu not only quote but also explain the teachings of the Quran, and I have noticed many similarities with the Bible. I appreciate that most religious groups, including Muslims, appear to be making progress in correcting the mistakes of the 1950s and 1960s. For instance, the belief that one does not need to work if they are religious, as God will provide for them,” said President Museveni.

Muslims across the country are currently observing the holy month of Ramadan, and during this month, Muslims observe a strict fast from dawn until sunset. They are not allowed to eat or drink (even water) during daylight hours. Fasting is a private act of worship bringing about nearness to God, as well as a form of spiritual discipline and a means to empathize with those less fortunate.
