Anti-Corruption Court Grants Cash Bail to Minister Kitutu

The embattled Minister for Karamoja Affairs has been granted a cash bail of 10 million shillings by the Anti-Corruption Court chief magistrate, Joan Aciro.

Achiro granted Minister Kitutu bail after she presented five substantial sureties. Kitutu and her brother have been in custody for a week.

Her co-accused brother Nagoya Michael Kitutu has also been granted a Ugx 3 million cash bail, and each of his two sureties has been bonded by a Ugx 100 million non-cash bail. Two other land titles have also been deposited with the court.

Kitutu is facing two counts of causing loss of public property and one count of conspiracy to defraud for her role in the Karamoja iron sheet scandal.
