In his pronouncement made from Te-Boke-based Palace, H.H. Odur blessed Amb. Dickson Ogwang Okul, the head of the Pala-Ocol clan, to succeed his leadership once elected sometime in November 2024.
On Thursday, June 6, 2024, Amb. Ogwang revealed his strategic plans to turn Odur’s blessing into reality.
“I promise to work on ensuring that sanity is restored, peace, and unity are achieved in Lango Cultural Leadership and in our community in order to effectively foster social, political, and economic transformation in our subregion,” said Awitong Ogwang.
He called upon other leaders to unite and work towards the interests of the Lango people.
“I urge and implore fellow leaders at all levels that we must put our individual pride and selfish interests aside as we put Lango first and achieve the best for our people,” said Ogwang.

According to him, H.H. Odur also revealed to him some interests, including the desire to turn the Te-Boke-based palace into a museum of Lango cultural heritage once he takes over as Won Nyaci of Lango and after he is gone to meet his creator.
“I will do as he commanded, promising with commitment that I will henceforth go and follow all legal steps and processes in a peaceful and legally faithful manner and with humility to take over the office of Won Nyaci me Lango. And I will work on ensuring his wishes, including turning his residence into a museum, are actualized at the appropriate time,” said Awitong Ogwang.
He noted that, after the blessing from H.H. Odur, he informed him that, as part of the process, he will present himself to the people of Lango alongside any other interested Owitong (clan chiefs) to be confirmed through a majority vote by the people of Lango as the new Won Nyaci following his blessings and with the strength of the succession Mantle passed on to him.
“While I had earlier declared a lack of interest in the Office of Won Nyaci me Lango, with blessings and the challenge of His Highness the Won Nyaci, Mzee Yocam Odur Ebii, my Paramount Chief, I wish to make it clear to all and declare that I am presenting myself to contest for the office of Won Nyaci in the election to be held on or before November 1st, 2024, as shall be determined by the Government of His Highness the Won Nyaci me Lango, Mzee Yocam Odur Ebii,” said Ogwang.
This was witnessed by the senior advisors, Frederick Ogwal Oyee, also Awitong me Inomo; Dr. Laury Lawrence Ocen, also Awitong me Okarowok Wi Bie Acel; and Anthony Olobo, also Awitong me Omwonpel and Son to His Highness, and his daughter, Ms. Millie Odur.
