Security operatives in Kampala are hunting for the suspected assailants who shot dead an Asian national on Friday afternoon.

The deceased, whose particulars are yet to be established, was a renown money lender in the city and was shot dead from inside Yako Bank, located on Raja Chambers along Parliamentary Avenue in the city center of Kampala.

According to eyewitnesses, two men riding on a motorcycle approached the building, and one dressed in police uniform entered and shot the deceased.

The source revealed that the Indian businessman was reportedly shot dead from inside his office at Raja Chambers and that the assailant could be one of his clients.

Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased, who is yet to be identified, was a money lender who has been lending cash to prominent people.

His body was removed and taken to the city mortuary for a postmortem by the police.

The cause of the shooting has not yet been determined.

This is the third murder by shooting within Kampala in a span of less than two weeks.

Jajja Ichuli, a local political blogger in Kampala, was shot dead last week, hardly two days after the murder of late Minister Col. Charles Okello Engola Macodwogo, from his home in Kyanja, Kampala.
