Lira District Woman MP Linda Agnes Auma has delivered to over 1200 households clean energy saucepans (aluminum) worth more than Ugx32 million in Aromo Sub County.
While handing over the saucepans to women on Friday, April 5th, 2024, during a ceremony held in Odoro parish, MP Auma said the saucepans are part of her several pledges made during the 2021 campaigns.
MP Auma said the women were drawn from the 21 villages in Aromo Sub County to engage in. various wealth creation programs being championed by the government.
“Today I’m giving 1298 households in the 21 villages odoro aluminum saucepans, which each cost Ugx25,000. This will enhance our environmental protection campaign,” said MP Auma.
According to MP Auma, once she is done with the distribution of the clean energy saucepans to all the households in Lira district, she will again embark on the next pledges that are still pending, including promoting commercial agriculture where improved seeds will be distributed to residents.
Jacob Ocen, a prominent NRM leader and also a political assistant to MP Auma, said she will continue fulfilling her pledges made during the 2021 campaign.
“Those who received the aluminum saucepans were happy with MP Auma for fulfilling her promise,” said Ocen.
Sam Ogwang, a resident of Okim village, expressed excitement about what MP Auma is doing to promote cleaner energy in a bid to protect the environment.
“No one has ever done what MP Auma is doing; at least she has fulfilled her pledge, unlike other leaders who have never returned here since we voted them into office,” said Ogwang.
Naume Angom, a resident of Wipip village, said she had been lacking a saucepan, yet it’s the foundation of happiness in every family.
She applauded MP Auma and urged her to continue fulfilling all the pending pledges.
This is the third round in which MP Auma is delivering saucepans to local residents in Lira district.
The saucepans are being accompanied by a cleaner energy stove that uses less firewood or charcoal.
