On Saturday, March 2nd, the NRM team from the Secretariat, led by Deputy SG Rose Namayanja, stormed Dokolo district in a rare political moment where they immediately unveiled Adong as the official flag bearer.

“I want to appeal to the people moving around, saying they are independent but claiming to be NRM-leaning, to please come back and let us move together. If we continue like this, we shall be sowing seeds of disunity, which is very bad for our party,” warned Namayanja.

She further cautioned local councilors believed to be opposing the official flag bearer to abandon the move, saying this would elaborately affect the party’s victory.

“I want you to know that you’re also digging your own graves to fail in 2026 if you don’t rally behind the flag bearer, because if she fails, it means you all have already failed ahead of 2026 because if one loses, we all lose,” said Namayanja.

MP Felix Okot Ogong of Dokolo South cautioned the team from the NRM Secretariat to ensure that all the campaign resources meant to deliver their candidate Elau are brought to the local leadership.

“We want NRM campaigns to be done from here in Dokolo and not the Secretariat in Kampala; we should use our local structures and let every fund and resource meant for this by-election reach out to the local people in Dokolo district; this way, we shall gunner more votes,” warned MP Okot.

“Let’s vote wisely. I pray that you add to our weight by voting for the NRM candidate, because if you vote for Adongo Elau (the NRM candidate), she will join me and MP Ogwal Goli, and we shall have the loudest voice for the people of Dokolo. Now tell me why you will not have good services in Dokolo district,” said MP Okot.

“I joined NRM in 1998 with some people that are still alive and did a great job. I pray that the President remembers these people that have served NRM diligently over the years and appreciates them,” said MP Okot.

Shortly after unveiling the official flag bearer, the NRM party officials vowed to mount a heavy mobilization to ensure that Adong wins the March 21st by-election against Dr. Rosemary Alwoc (FDC) and Sarah Nyangkori of the UPC party.

Electoral Commission Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama recently designated March 21st as the date to elect the new woman MP for Dokolo district.
