The Forum for Democratic Change Party legal advisor, MP Moses Okot Bitek of Kioga County, has ruled out the possibility of UPC party President, MP Jimmy Akena Obote, contesting against President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
MP Bitek trashed Akena’s recent claim that he will contest for the presidency in 2026 as a ploy to hoodwink opposition parties and forces struggling for change in Uganda.
“He told people he would contest for the presidency in 2011, 2016, and 2021 but never appeared on the ballot. No, he is back here with the same trick; be careful to follow MP Akena’s messages,” MP Bitek cautioned voters in Dokolo district.

MP Bitek is among the FDC campaign machines camped in Dokolo district to drum up support for Dr. Rosemary Alwoc in the ongoing by-election campaigns.
“Vote for Dr. Alwoc, who will carry FDC manifestos; she will stand for the truth like her late mother; be careful with other candidates, for they are agents of oppression in Uganda,” said MP Bitek.
A total of seven candidates are campaigning to replace the late MP Cecilia Atim Ogwal as the Dokolo woman representative in the 11th Parliament.
