On Thursday, April 17, 2024, the GCW Hon. Obua, while presiding over the graduation ceremony of over 500 young people who had completed their youth skilling training at the Lango Zonal Presidential Skilling Centre in Lira City, said President Museveni has exclusively been emphasizing youth empowerment through various skilling programs.
GCW Obua said the Presidential Initiative of Skilling the Girl and Boy Child, which includes training in hairdressing, embroidery, tailoring, knitting, weaving, shoe making, baking, and confectionery, aligns with the NRM Government’s strategic vision to make youths productive, self-sustainable, and create jobs and wealth.
“This initiative is a testimony and commitment of the NRM Government under the leadership of President Y.K. Museveni to equip the young people with productive and self-sustainable skills to be able to create jobs and wealth,” said Obua.
He added that the government, under the close guidance of Gen. Museveni, is fully committed to empowering young people in a bid to combat poverty in the country through job creation.
Vicky Abura, the head of the Lango Zonal Presidential Skilling Center, congratulated the trainees, saying they were also taken through various skills to facilitate their success in life.
Abura noted that the trainees will also be able to further their education at any level since the certificate they have acquired is fully recognized by the government.
