Security intelligence has kicked off a probe into the recently released opinion poll results purportedly conducted by the officials of the Office of the NRM National Chairman in Lango ahead of the primary elections in Oyam North County.

The investigation reportedly stemmed from a complaint filed by a section of party stalwarts who were concerned about the motive and manner in which the purported opinion poll was conducted.

In a shocking twist of events, the ONC headquarters has also distanced itself from the opinion poll results, describing them as fake and must be ignored adding that no staff from Lango was tasked to conduct such.

“Our attention has been drawn to a circulating “report” on social media platforms expressing arrangements for an opinion poll in Oyam North and informers per sub-county to have been confirmed and conducted by the Office of the National Chairman Coordinator for Lango Sub-Region, Mr. Obadia Ceasor,” said Kyeswa Hakim, the Head of ONC Online Media.

In the sham opinion poll that was shared on various social media platforms, including Lango Onotte, where Obada is the administrator, three contenders for the NRM Flag were listed as being in the lead, whereas none were.

“We wish to inform the public that this is a hoax, and any individual (s) involved in it is misrepresenting the Office of the NRM National Chairman and should be treated accordingly as per the law,” Kyeswa said.

He clarified that the Office of the NRM National Chairman has an official communication mechanism for all its activities, of which all security organs are always furnished copies.

The issue has since been picked up by intelligence for further investigation to ascertain the motive.
