Journalist Arrested for Defilement

Date:

Police in Amolatar District have arrested Alphonse Odur, alias Fege-Fege, 30, a resident of Amolatar B Cell on allegations of defiling a 16-year-old girl.

SP  Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga regional police chief, said the suspect allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old juvenile, a student at Amolatar Secondary School.

Odur, a local journalist with Hot FM radio in Amolatar, is alleged to have been engaging in multiple sexual relations with the lady right from December 25, 2022.

According to police, Odur recently also picked up the same girl from her school; fortunately, some students nabbed them and immediately alerted school authorities, leading to his arrest.

“It’s alleged that the same suspect sneaked into the school and picked the girl with intentions to have sex with her, but in the process some students found them red-handed and the suspect escaped,” Okema said.

He said police have recorded a statement from the victim, and the suspect is being detained at CPS Amolatar.
