Museveni Tasks Top Spy Agencies to Gather Evidence of Speaker’s Wealth in UK

Date:

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has ordered top spy agencies to gather undisputable evidence proving that Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet owns a fleet of wealth, including houses, in the United Kingdom.

A highly placed intelligence source revealed that President Museveni has now told British authorities to use her top spy agencies and Uganda’s External Security Organization, ESO, to deepen investigations into these allegations before he intervenes on this matter.

The United Kingdom has several intelligence agencies, including the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), also known as MI6 (Military Intelligence, Section 6), responsible for collecting and analyzing foreign intelligence, including espionage outside of the UK.

Another top firm is MI5. This security agency’s mission is to help keep the UK, and in this case, it’s the one that unearthed Among’s wealth in the UK.

In his letter to Foreign Affairs Minister Gen. Jeje Odongo dated May 2, 2024, Mr. Museveni confirmed that he was informed by the UK’s envoy to Uganda, Kate Airey, last Tuesday before the British slapped sanctions on the Speaker and two former Ministers, Agnes Nandutu and Gorreti Kitutu, for their involvement in the theft of relief items for the Karamoja region.

In the same letter that has left heads rolling in the corridors of parliament, Museveni expressed shock and bitterness to hear that a senior Ugandan political leader (Among) has houses in the UK.

“She (Kate) also told me about sanctioning the Rt. Hon. Anita Among. I said, “Why?” She said that Anita Among has a house or houses in the UK and has bank accounts from which she pays school fees for her children who are studying there,” said Museveni.

“Why would a Ugandan leader build or buy houses in the UK or anywhere else abroad when Uganda, the still-underdeveloped country where she would have earned the money, still needs those investments? It would definitely be a moral and ideological mistake,” Museveni questioned.
