Music Promoter Sipapa, Wife Committed to High Court

Date:

Music promoter Charles Olim, aka Sipapa, and his wife Shamira Rukia Nakiyemba have been committed to the High Court to stand trial on charges of aggravated robbery and money laundering.

On Monday, February 27th, the Magistrate of Makindye Court ruled that the duo should stand trial in the High Court following the completion of investigations into the charges.

“Since investigations are complete, you are hereby sent to the High Court to stand trial,” the magistrate added.

The directive was made at the request of State Attorney Eunice Akullo, who informed the court that the investigations are complete.

The prosecution alleges that the two and others robbed Jacob Mul Arok and Mary Ateng of $429,000 (Shs. 1.6b), two mobile phones, an iPhone, a 75-inch Samsung flat TV screen, and an Apple MacBook, among other items, on the night of August 29th, 2022, at Bunga Kawuku, Makindye division in Kampala district, after using a substance on them that rendered them unconscious.

Sipapa is a resident of Kityo Close, Buwate Village, Najjera Kiira Town Council, and Wakiso District.

Under the Penal Code Act, the offence of aggravated robbery attracts a maximum sentence of life imprisonment on conviction.
