Otuke District Council has passed a resolution recommending the appointing authority remove the District Police Commander, Sabila Sadak, and the Deputy RDC, Geoffrey Akol.
The duo is accused of working parallel with the council, using their offices to conduct political witch hunts.
Their trouble stemmed from the recent decision to block the Lango Sub Regional Joint Council meeting that was intended to deliberate on the rampant cattle raids by the Karamojong rustlers.
They also conducted the arrest of some local leaders, including Francis Abola, the Otuke district LCV, the council speaker, and others.
On Friday, during the council meeting, it was resolved that both the DPC and Deputy RDC be transferred from Otuke District since they are not working in harmony with the council.
Jimmy Odongo Odany, the local councilor for Adwari sub-county and also the district secretary for finance and administration, cited the apparently working relationship between the district council and the district security committee.
“We are also suspicious that the RDC is involved in politicking; he sides with some politicians openly, and this is impeding our unity, among others. The relationship between RDC, chairperson, and councilors is in total jeopardy and is contrary to Local Government Act Chapter 243, Clause 71(a)(b) and (f),” said Odongo.
The Otuke District Council Speaker, Yeko Lameck Ogwal, said the council unanimously agreed that the duo must be transparent with immediate effect and that they should be investigated for collaborating with cattle rustlers. Ogwal said the council further resolved to take legal action against the DPC and Deputy RDC over the illegal detention of local leaders.
Both the DPC and Deputy RDC have trashed the council resolution, saying it violates legal mandates to remove them from Otuke.
“Are they my appointment authority? They have no mandate to resolve my removal from Otuke, and their resolution is a dead one,” said Akol.

Politicians are funny, now all of them have diverted their mind away from Karamojong instead they r focusing on fighting government officials n this will deter the improvement of peace in our mighty district.

We have a district political leaders who are elected to find solutions for their electorates. Suspected Karamojong worrious at that time, were looting cattle & killing people.
The district leadership organised a meeting where they could discuss & lay strategies on how to protect the people & their animal, the security that was supposed to support them ordered for their arrest claiming the meeting was illegal.
The district is a local government, charged with the running of their affairs. Chairman LC5 is the president at the district level. A mere DPC ordered for his arrest.
Chairman LC5 is a member of the District Security Committee, how can he be arrested by merely a DPC?
For your information, why we feel there is collaboration with cattle thieves is that, whenever the cattle thieves are at work, there is hardly seen security men protecting the community & their animals. The fateful day of the brutal arrest, massive number of military & police were deployed to deal with civilian leaders. The deployment alone was enough to deal with the Cattle rustlers so it was a shock to us to see the number of security personnel in the area, because when there cattle rustlers, they don’t deploy like they did that day.
