President Museveni in Algeria to Deepen Bilateral Ties

Date:

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has flown to Algeria on  Saturday morning for a three-day state visit to deepen ties between the two counties on the invitation of his Algerian counterpart President  Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

This is the second state visit President Museveni is conducting after the recent state visit to South Africa on the invitation of President Cyril Ramaphosa last week. His recent visits have  been focusing on harnessing trade, regional cooperation and Panafricanism.

During the state visit, President Museveni and his host will witness the signing of a number of memorandum of understanding between various sectors of the two countries.

“I have travelled to Algiers, Algeria for a 3-Day State Visit at the invitation of H.E Abdelmadjid Tebboune. I look forward to having fruitful discussions with him to enhance our bilateral relations for the prosperity and interests of our people,” the President confirmed.

The two Presidents will also later attend the first-ever business forum between Algeria and Uganda in Algiers.

Uganda and Algeria enjoy warm and fraternal bilateral relations.

The two countries have strong regional, continental, and international cooperation, especially through regional and international organizations such as the African Union (AU), the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA), and the United Nations.
