President Museveni Unbothered by Western Threats Over Anti-Homosexuality Law

Date:

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has remained unbothered by the recent threats from the West and appealed to fellow African leaders to take up a leading role in preserving the African culture against immoral behaviors, including homosexuality.

“Africa should provide the lead to save the world from this degeneration and decadence, which is really very dangerous for humanity,” Museveni said.

Museveni made the remarks over the weekend while addressing a delegation of Members of Parliament from over 22 African countries and the United Kingdom at State House Entebbe.

This was the first ever Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family Values and Sovereignty to be held in Uganda under the theme “Protecting African Culture and Family Values.”

The President asked fellow African leaders to strongly condemn homosexuality, saying it’s a big threat and danger to the survival of the human race.

“If people of opposite sexes stop appreciating one another, then how will the human race survive and propagate?” Museveni said.

Kenyan MP Peter, on behalf of the delegation of legislators who attended the conference, thanked President Museveni and the Parliament of Uganda for remaining firm against homosexuality and efforts to preserve African culture.

Citing the recent anti-homosexuality bill that was passed by the Ugandan Parliament, MP Kaluma said that the bill is now an inspiration to other houses on the continent to reject the vice of homosexuality.

“We came to express our gratitude, respect, and salutations to you, Your Excellency. You give value to our sovereignty as independent states in Africa, and you have stood in the gap for Africa,” he said.
