On May 24, 2024, President Museveni made a rare decision and summoned all the cabinet members and other top government officials to his Kisozi Farm in Gomba district.
Top on his agenda is to expose these top government officials to practically understand the concept of wealth creation using the four-acre model.
As early as 8 a.m., most cabinet members, including Vice President Major (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, among others, started arriving one by one amidst a drizzling weather.
A highly placed source in Cabinet has revealed that the decision by the President to convene this practical tour stemmed from his disappointment in most cabinet members, whom he accused of deliberately frustrating his wealth creation mission.
In one of the recent cabinet meetings, President Museveni is said to have openly turned guns on most ministers, who had been highly reflected in the intelligence report as not being practically involved in wealth creation beyond delivering the message despite having access to huge support.
According to the source, the intelligence report also pinned more than half of Cabinet members of not owning a single farm, which they could use to influence the mindsets of local people. This is said to have triggered President’s angriness. The report further blamed the Ministers of only concentrating on individual dispute with their opponents or fellow Ministers and instead abandoned preaching Museveni’s wealth creation messages.
In this tour, the president tasked the cabinet members to practically learn so that they can replicate the same at the individual level in their respective constituencies and also subsequently mobilize local people to emulate them.
“How can you preach good gospel when you are doing something different? I want all cabinet members and top government officials to lead by example. You cannot talk about wealth creation through commercial farming when you yourself are not practically involved.” Museveni is quoted as having fumed in one of the recent meetings.
While in Gomba, Museveni tasked several local residents who had religiously been following his wealth creation directives to educate the lazy ministers whom he blamed for not practically walking his talk on how they successfully achieved and benefited from his initiatives.
Most of the local residents whom President Museveni tasked to lecture the ministers are making huge sums of money from their various farming activities, including dairy farming.
President Yoweri Museveni settled in Gomba district in 1990, where he immediately established a large farm and embarked on wealth-creation activities.
