Tension is mounting among top mobilizers of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), with the majority demanding that a senior government minister who allegedly stole several kilograms of meat and rice meant to feed peasants who had attended CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s party be probed.
On Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, Frank Gashumba, the PLU Vice Chairperson for Central Region, penned a shocking dossier to the Disciplinary Committee Chairperson of PLU, MP Michael Mawanda for Igara East in Bushenyi District, and demanded that the Minister be investigated and subsequently punished.
Gashumba’s letter was in response to a summon by MP Mawanda to appear before the Committee over his recent tweet calling the attention of security chiefs, including General Muhoozi, over the current deteriorating security situation in Kampala.
He called on the chiefs to either hype their games of protecting Ugandans with their properties or resign, a statement that never pleased the top leaders of the PLU.
“Since you are busy summoning me, when are you summoning your friend (a minister) who embarrassed PLU mobilizers when he stole meat and rice at an event when Gen. Muhoozi visited Masaka? How can a so-called “Hon. Minister” (a person of such a title) turn himself into a petty thief of rice and meat meant for feeding peasants at a public gathering? Prayers alone cannot save this country, Uganda,” Gashumba’s letter reads in part.
“By the way, tell us, when will you appear before CID for corruption and theft of cooperative money meant for compensation of poor people to the tune of Ugx164 billion?” Gashumba asked MP Mawanda.

No official from the Patriotic League of Uganda has responded to Gashumba’s dossier, which revealed how the pressure group’s internal affairs are on the verge of collapse.
The Patriotic League of Uganda is a pressure group formed to support the mobilization of youths and other Ugandans who are loyalists to CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. The group was originally referred to as Muhoozi’s Army.
