The event which will see revellers participate in the activities free of charge, will be officiated over by President Museveni as the chief guest.
This year’s Celebrations are being conducted under the international Theme: “Museums for Transforming Society.” Gen. Iddi Amin Dada Story will be the main feature on 18th May 2019.

Uganda is blessed with diversity of heritage most of which can be seen from museums.

The objective of International Museum Day is to raise awareness that Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.

IMD is a platform for raising public awareness on the role of museums in the improvement of society at an international level.

Museums provide room and opportunity for the public to acquire, conserve, research, communicate and exhibit the humanity tangible and intangible heritage plus its environment for enjoyment, study and education purposes.
